Reception for Academic Open Space Participants

In conjunction with the University of Washington and Tohoku University: Academic Open Space (UW-TU:AOS) program held from November 16 to 17 at the University of Washington, the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle organized a reception at the Consul General’s Official Residence on the evening of the 17th, inviting members of both universities.

The reception had a total of about 60 attendees from the University of Washington, Tohoku University, Washington State Department of Commerce, Japan Business Association of Seattle, and the local media.
 

UW-TU:AOS was established in April this year as an international base for industry-academia collaboration and academic cooperation based on the agreement between the University of Washington and Tohoku University. Currently, there are four areas of research: (1) Next Generation Airplanes: Computational and Experimental Fluid Dynamics (2) Space, Robotics and International Policy (3) Natural Disaster and Hazard, and (4) Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration. Consul General Yamada attended and provided opening remarks at the Natural Disaster and Hazard session workshop on the 17th.
