Japan-Seattle AI Innovation Meetup 9.0 Event

2018/8/6
On Wednesday, July 25, the Washington State Department of Commerce, Innovation Finders Capital, and the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle co-hosted the AI Innovation Meetup 9.0 at the Consul General’s Official Residence, promoting Japan-U.S. business exchange in the AI sector.
At the seminar, 6 local start-ups pitched AI-powered hardware and programming applications to around 15 firms attending from Japan, and later engaged in lively discussions on AI technology in general.

At the following reception, in his opening remarks, Consul General Yoichiro Yamada mentioned the significance of having the event take place in Seattle, a city being called an “AI and cloud computing capital surrounding technology”, while touching on the potential and emerging implications of the ethics. Professor Vikram Jandhyala of the University of Washington, and Mr. Chris Green and Dr. Joseph Williams, representing the state of Washington, attended the event and reflected on the deep ties between Japan and Washington, and expressed a desire to see continued development of economic relations in AI and other fields.
