Visiting Japan & Visa

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Seattle area, from March 26 the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle will be offering its services by appointment only.
We are not accepting visa applications at this time except for A ; Short-term stay (Temporary visitor visa for business purpose only) and B ; Medium or long-term stay (application with Certificate of Eligibility).

Those who are under the exceptional situations and need to travel to Japan, please email us to make an appointment at

  • The consulate only accepts documents in pdf format sent via email.
  • Please do not put documents in a file or folder other than pdf.
  • The maximum size of attachements we can receive in an email is 10MB.
  • If your attachment size exceeds 10MB, please send them by dividing them into two or three separate emails.
If you do not receive a response from the consulate within 5 business days after sending documents via email to the consulate, please call or email to confirm the status of your application.
