Japan Week 2018 at Bellevue College

2018/10/19
Japan Week 2018 was held at the Bellevue College on October 6.

Local groups introduced various aspects of Japanese culture through a variety of activities such as: dango cooking workshop; tea ceremony demonstration; flower arranging demonstration; taiko performances; cosplay costume contest.

In the event, the Consulate screened two movies called “Thermae Romae” and “Light Up Nippon,” and had a booth, Samurai Lecture, Furoshiki Wrapping workshop, JET program information session, and a presentation about MEXT government scholarships.

Visitors had great experiences not only through these lectures and booths, but also by enjoying Japanese food such as obento (Japanese style lunch boxes), onigiri (rice balls), and drinks, and flea market that sell Japanese stuff.

The Japan Week 2018 gave over 8,000 visitors the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture.
