Washington State Sister Cities Conference

On October 6, 2018, the Washington State Sister Cities Conference was held by Sister Cities International, headquartered in Washington D.C. 
 
Approximately 80 people related to sister cities attended the conference, including The Hon. Cyrus Habib, Washington State Lt. Governor; Lori Ann Reinhall, Washington State Representative for Sister Cities International; The Hon. Clare Petrich, Tacoma Port Commissioner and board member of Sister Cities International; and, Marilyn Strickland, former Mayor of Tacoma and current CEO of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce.  Information and opinions were exchanged on the continuation and development of sister cities activities.
 
Washington State shares many strong ties with sister cities throughout the world.  Among the countries connected to Washington State in particular, Japan has the most number of sister cities. 
 
There are currently 36 sister city relationships between Japan and Washington State, in addition to the sister state relations between Hyogo Prefecture and Washington State.
