Consul General Yamada’s visit to a Japanese company in Vancouver

On March 15, Consul General Yamada visited Vancouver, Washington, a city next to the Washington-Oregon state border.

He visited SEH America, an industry leader with 30 % of the market’s world share and one of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd.’s producers in the United States. Their main products are silicon semiconductors. Seeing the site where silicon wafers are produced, the Consul General witnessed the company’s high technology and its contributions to the local community.

Consul General Yamada later participated in a meeting with representatives from Vancouver City as well as from Japanese companies and organizations located in the greater Vancouver area and Portland. He expressed his appreciation for their cooperation in promoting Japan-US exchanges, and spoke on the Consulate’s activities. The Hon. Monica Stonier, Washington State Representative of the 49th legislative district, which includes Vancouver, and who is a Japanese American, also attended and gave remarks, wishing for the further development of Japan-US relations.
