Headmaster Hiroki Ohara of the Ohara School, one of the three most revered schools of ikebana visited Seattle from February 25 to March 1. Seattle is where the first Ohara School of Ikebana Chapter was established.

On February 27 at the Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Headmaster Ohara used the magical world of mixed reality, through the HoloLens 2 technology developed by Microsoft to push the boundaries of the traditional art of ikebana with an unconventional and never-before-seen collaboration between ikebana and technology.

On February 29 at the Northwest Flower & Garden Festival, the largest garden festival in Northwest U.S., Headmaster Ohara held an ikebana seminar, demonstrating the art form to the audience.

On the evening of the 29th, a reception was held at the Consul General’s Official Residence with many Washington State legislators in attendance, providing guests an opportunity to learn about Japanese culture through ikebana.
