Emperor’s Birthday Reception at the Official Residence – 3/5/2026

On March 5, Consul General Iyori and Mrs. Iyori hosted a reception at the Official Residence to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor. About 170 guests attended, including state government officials, mayors, city councilmembers, city officials, business leaders, academics, and leaders of cultural organizations.
Following opening remarks by Consul General Iyori, a video message from The Hon. Bob Ferguson, Governor of the State of Washington, was played. Remarks were then delivered by Rear Admiral Jonathan Townsend, Commander of Navy Region Northwest, and a toast was offered by The Hon. Steve Hobbs, Secretary of State of Washington.
As part of the celebration, guests enjoyed a sake booth by the Hyogo Business & Cultural Center, tea ceremonies by Omotesenke Domonkai Eastern Region USA Seattle Special District, and a ramen booth by Hokkaido Ramen Santouka.
