On August 14, Consul General Iyori and Mrs. Iyori hosted a Farewell Reception at the Official Residence to bid farewell to friends and colleagues, including leaders from government, academia, business, and the Japanese American community. Distinguished guests included The Hon. Bob Hasegawa, Washington State Senator, and other state legislators; The Hon. Armondo Pavone, Mayor of the City of Renton, and other mayors; Rear Admiral Jonathan Townsend, Commander of Navy Region Northwest; and Brigadier General Joseph Escandon, Deputy Commanding General of U.S. Army’s First Corps.
Consul General Iyori delivered farewell remarks, reflecting on his unforgettable experiences during his nearly three years in Seattle. He highlighted fond memories including visits to the region’s national parks, meetings with local leaders, and throwing the ceremonial first pitch at a Seattle Mariners game at T-Mobile Park. Mrs. Iyori expressed her gratitude for the people of Seattle and the local community and offered a toast, wishing for the community’s continued development. Both Consul General Iyori and Mrs. Iyori expressed their deep gratitude to the Greater Seattle community for making the region feel like home.
The Farewell Reception marked the conclusion of Consul General Iyori’s nearly three years of service to the local Japanese community and his efforts to strengthen the ties between Japan and Washington State, as well as between Japan and Montana. The event also celebrated the longstanding friendly relations between Japan and Washington State, including with the Japanese American community.
