Consul General’s Commendation Awarded to Mrs. Michi Hirata North

On April 16, 2023, Mrs. Michi Hirata North was awarded the Consul General’s Commendation in a ceremony held during her piano recital at Town Hall Seattle. She was recognized by the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle for her contributions to Japan-US relations.

After the award ceremony
Mrs. Michi Hirata North made her debut as a professional pianist at the age of 8. Since then, she has held concerts all over the world as a renowned pianist for more than 80 years. She has contributed to the development of music education and piano instruction in Japan and around the world through her efforts, such as spreading the Suzuki Method. At the ceremony, Consul General Inagaki presented the Consul General's Commendation in recognition of her contributions to Japan-US relations through music.
The Consul General’s Commendation is awarded to community members in recognition of their contributions and distinguished achievements in promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and the United States.
