Update on Recovery at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station
The Government of Japan provided an update on recovery operations at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS) to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as of September 30th, 2015, which can be viewed together with the IAEA’s own assessment at the following link:

Highlights from the IAEA’s Latest Assessment in the September Report:
- Operations to discharge groundwater pumped from sub-drains and the completion of a seaside impermeable wall were achieved through close communication and engagement with stakeholders and the public.
- Levels of radionuclides in the marine environment remain stable. Additionally, results from the IAEA’s 2015 proficiency test on seawater monitoring show that the participating Japanese laboratories performed well in this exercise.
- The situation with regard to food, fishery and agricultural production continues to remain stable and no new issues have arisen. Appropriate measures are in place to monitor and prevent food with radionuclide levels in excess of regulatory limits from entering the food supply chain.
