Japan-Seattle AI Innovation Meetup 11.0 Event

On Wednesday, January 23, the Washington State Department of Commerce, Innovation Finders Capital, and the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle co-hosted the AI Innovation Meetup 11.0 at the Consul General’s Official Residence, where Japan-U.S. business exchange in the AI sector was promoted.
At the seminar, ten local start-ups pitched AI-powered hardware and programming applications to around twenty firms attending from Japan. Later the participants engaged in lively networking.

At the reception immediately following the pitch event, Consul General Yoichiro Yamada gave opening remarks that touched on the emerging aspects of AI technology, including the implication on ethics. Representing the State of Washington, Chris Green, Assistant Director; Dr. Joseph Williams, Gov. Inslee’s ICT Sector Lead; and Connie Robins, Acting Agency Director, reflected on the deep ties between Japan and Washington state, and expressed a desire to see the development of economic relations in AI and other fields
The January 23 event was the 11st AI Innovation Meetup, which is held quarterly.
