List of Certified Japanese Food and Ingredient Supporters in Washington and Montana

Japanese Food Supporters (restaurants and retail stores) are expected to be a bridge between Japan and overseas through food. These stores and restaurants enthusiastically sell or use safe and quality food products and/or alcoholic beverages from Japan as the core of spreading Japanese food culture, in line with “Guidelines for Certification of Japanese Food and Ingredient Supporter Stores Overseas” set by MAFF (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan).

As benefits of becoming certified supporter stores, you will be able to promote the brand, gain quality Japanese foods by communicating information, and use self-promotion mediums.

After the certification is processed, we will post your information on this website after you provide us via email the name of the store, the address, links to the website or social media, a picture of the certificate, and a photo to post on the website. Our email address is economy@se.mofa.go.jp (Economy Section, Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle).

・You will be able to use the certification logo of “Japanese Food Supporter Stores” and appeal to your customers that your store is certified by using ingredients from Japan, which will be good for promoting your brand and differentiating your store from others.
・You will be able to gain information about Japanese ingredients and events for certified Japanese Food Supporter Stores from JETRO. (For more info, click here.)
・You will be able to use self-promotion mediums including store listings, introductions on our website, and via “Taste of Japan” on the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Website.

<Requirements for Certification>
For restaurants:
・Consistently serving food made with Japanese food products or ingredients.
・Consistently serving alcoholic beverages produced in Japan.
・The restaurant’s use of Japanese food and alcoholic beverages being displayed on the menu. (e.g. “from Japan”,”from Miyagi in Japan”,” made with ingredients sourced from Japan,”. Other examples: 1,2)
・Promoting the appeal and characteristics of Japanese food and alcoholic beverages. (e.g. Verbally communicate the characteristics and appeal of Japanese products when serving food and drinks, or when asked by diners.)
For Retail Stores:
・Consistently selling Japanese food, ingredients, and alcoholic beverages.
・The fact that products are made in Japan is indicated on the product shelf.
・Promoting the appeal and characteristics of Japanese food, ingredients, and alcoholic beverages.
<Steps to Register>
1. Select “New”.
2. Select “J000 JETRO (Japan)” or another organization you wish to be certified by.
3. Type the applicant information: company name, name of representative, and contact details (phone number and email address).
4. Type the store name that you wish to be certified.
5. Type more store information: store location, store postal code, job title and name of contact person, store contact details, URL of its website or social media ( type “N/A” if not available), and the date established or opened.
6. Select or describe the type of store. Then, answer the questions about Japanese food and products you offer.
7. Upload an image of Japanese foods and ingredients on menus or displayed in stores that are indicated as being produced in Japan.
8. Check the agreements and preconditions upon certification and click “Confirm” to submit.
