Prime Minister Abe has extended the State of Emergency to all Prefectures

On April 16, Prime Minister Abe has announced the expansion of a State of Emergency to cover all prefectures. Detailed measures are to be announced by each prefectural government. 13 prefectures are designated as “Prefectures under Extra Caution” due to higher intensity of COVID-19 infections. These prefectures are Hokkaido, Ibaraki, Ishikawa, Gifu, Aichi, Kyoto, Saitama, Chiba, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Osaka, Hyogo, and Fukuoka. The State of Emergency is to last until May 6.
