The presentation ceremony for the Foreign Minister's Commendation to Seattle Japanese Garden
2021/8/19
In the evening of August 12, the presentation ceremony for the Foreign Minister's Commendation was held at the Seattle Japanese Garden during its Garden Party celebrating its 60th anniversary. The Garden marked the milestone in 2020, but due to the pandemic, the event was postponed to this year. The event also featured the world premiere of composer Paul Chihara’s “The Garden of Enchantment,” an original chamber work for violin, percussion, and cello, and performed by members of the Seattle Symphony, including marimba player Ms. Mari Yoshinaga. At the event, Consul General Inagaki presented the award, which was announced on December 1 last year, to Ms. Jane Stonecipher, Executive Director at the Arboretum Foundation, and Mr. Christopher Williams, Deputy Superintendent, City of Seattle Parks and Recreation. Prior to the presentation ceremony, on August 10, the Consul General and Mrs. Inagaki also hosted a reception at the Official Residence to celebrate the Garden’s receipt of the Commendation as well as to welcome Mr. Chihara, a native Seattleite, back to the city. |
